Through his involvement with national and international code and standards committees, Tom continues to influence best practice in building water systems — combining engineering precision with evidence-based risk management to deliver measurable, lasting outcomes.

Brendan Josey is a specialist engineer and researcher recognised for pioneering work in Australian water demand modelling, transient behaviour, and system optimisation. His peer-reviewed research and publications have shaped contemporary plumbing design and informed the NCC 2025 water-demand provisions. Brendan leads investigations into water age and stagnation using advanced transient and hydraulic modelling to assess performance and microbial risk. His expertise spans pump optimisation, flow-balance analysis, and lifecycle reliability of hydraulic systems in healthcare and complex buildings. By translating real-world data into practical design intelligence, Brendan continues to set new benchmarks for evidence-based engineering — advancing standards and improving system safety and resilience across Australia and beyond.
